Mix It Up: Who Said You Can Only Have One Color at Your Wedding?

More and more I’ve seen modern day brides add their touch of uniqueness to their special day. One rule of thumb is to add color as much as you can. Gone are the days where your wedding had to be a sea of white. Let’s break this stereotype by adding touches of color in your bouquets, centerpieces, cake, table linens and your bridal party attire.

For years we have been subject to chosing one color for our bridesmaids and Maid-of-honor dresses until lately. Who made that rule anyway? I’m here to tell you to MIX IT UP! However, when you do keep the colors going throughout the entire wedding reception. Take for instance my cousin’s wedding this past spring. I loved the way she set the tone with mutiple color choice for her bridesmaids dresses and grooms men vests and ties.

(NOTE: I was a guest at the wedding and was taking pictures with my iPhone as I was amongst my family and not in my professional setting, so I apologize in advance for the quality of the photos but nontheless I wanted to share these with you.)

She went with Emerald Green (Fashion’s color of the year) and complemented it with a beautiful burgundy for her bridesmaid dresses.

She didn’t stop there with those colors. She added this color scheme to her wedding cake and centerpieces.

Adding color can be great. Don’t be scared to mix colors together. Sometimes the outcome can be a disaster if the paired colors are not complemetary on the color wheel. The key to perfecting this simple, “Not too strong, but subtle, classic and elegant.” I give her an A+ for a job well done.
